Blanc du Bois
· Vigorous, well suited for hot, humid growing conditions
· Can be harvested early if heavy rains or hurricane conditions are causing rot
· Harvest can begin at 16 brix and still make a very nice wine
· Wide range of wine styles can be made, from dry crisp, to semi-sweet mineral, to sweet tropical
· Proven record of over 20 years production in FL and TX
· Overall the least risky variety in terms of rot due to early harvest potential
· Average cluster weight = 0.30 pounds

· Rot resistant, disease resistant red wine grape
· Tolerates Pierce’s disease but shows occasional symptoms of leaf scorch
· Harvested at 20-24+ brix, with wide range of wine styles, from rose’ to dry to sweet
· High malic acid makes this grape challenging for dry wine production
· Low yielding due to small cluster size and low juice yield from berries
· Average cluster weight = 0.15 pounds
· Tolerates Pierce’s disease but shows occasional symptoms of leaf scorch
· Harvested at 20-24+ brix, with wide range of wine styles, from rose’ to dry to sweet
· High malic acid makes this grape challenging for dry wine production

Villard Blanc
· Rot resistant but later ripening than Blanc du Bois
· Can be harvested as early as 18 brix and still make very nice wine

· Proven record of about 10 years production in TX, no FL data
· Thick skins and large clusters make this variety an attractive addition to the BdB, with a different wine flavor profile, risk appears lower for rot than with BdB
· Average cluster weight = 0.40 pounds
· Can be harvested as early as 18 brix and still make very nice wine
· Range of wine styles similar to BdB, from dry mineral, to neutral to pear aromas, to sweet wine
· Proven record of about 10 years production in TX, no FL data
· Thick skins and large clusters make this variety an attractive addition to the BdB, with a different wine flavor profile, risk appears lower for rot than with BdB

Lenoir
· Prone to rot in wet years and more susceptible to downy mildew then BdB and VB
· Can be harvested at 20-22 brix to make rose’, needs additional rot free hang time for dry wine
· Wide range of wine styles depending on season, from rose’ or port in a short season or dry to semi-sweet red in a dry season
· Proven record of 20+ years production in TX
· More risk than the above whites due to longer dry season requirement and tight clusters
· Average cluster weight = 0.45 pounds
· Can be harvested at 20-22 brix to make rose’, needs additional rot free hang time for dry wine
· Wide range of wine styles depending on season, from rose’ or port in a short season or dry to semi-sweet red in a dry season
· Proven record of 20+ years production in TX
· More risk than the above whites due to longer dry season requirement and tight clusters
· Average cluster weight = 0.45 pounds
